Lhabab Duchen Special Chenrezig Practice
November 22, 2024 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

We offer Chenrezig sadhana/practice to deepen our connection to the Chenrezig.
Please note: Refuge is a prerequisite & this sadhana should be practiced only by people who have received the appropriate empowerment, transmission, and instruction from a qualified guru.
Lhabab Düchen, one of the Four Main Holy Days of the Buddhist Year, celebrates Buddha Shakyamuni’s descent from the Tushita Heaven (second in the six heavens of the desire realm in Buddhist cosmology). Several years after his enlightenment, the Buddha temporarily ascended there to give teachings to benefit the gods in that realm, and to repay the kindness of his mother, Mayadevi, who died a week after his birth and had been reborn there.
After he had been in the Tushita Heaven for three months, his disciple Maudgalyayana persuaded the Buddha to return to Earth. One week after the full moon, the Buddha descended to Earth by a special triple ladder of lapis lazuli and crystal, prepared by Viswakarma, the Hindu-Buddhist god of machines.
The name of this festive holiday is translated as Lha = gods, Bab = descent, and Düchen = great occasion. On Lhabab Düchen, the effects of all actions, positive or negative, are multiplied ten million times. Making offerings, reciting mantras and prayers are recommended.
Our website’s Resource section is currently under construction. In the meantime, please refer to the newsletter for all the texts required for our monthly Full Moon Long Life Practice.
